Managing Director, Marin JMS

Kwek has an academic grounding in mechanical engineering and began his career as a technical officer with Keppel (Singapore).

There he specialised in the installation and maintenance of a wide range of mechanical systems and infrastructures before going on to launch his own Singapore business.

In 1999, he established Mesco Engineers Pte Ltd and began serving clients specialising in marine and offshore tracking and positioning equipment by designing and manufacturing deployment/launching devices. He later renamed the company Johnny Marine Systems Pte Ltd in honour of his father, Johnny.  His continuous strive for quality has seen the company achieving ISO 9001:2008 and OHSAS 18001 status.

Kwek has designed, fabricated and installed many deployment/launching devices for equipment used in underwater tracking, positioning, communications, current profiling, and anchoring monitoring, servicing companies such as Transocean, Diamond Offshore, Neptune Marine, and Frontier Drilling.

He has led the expansion of Johnny Marine Systems Pte Ltd (JMS) — which operates within Marin Group as Marin JMS  — to include the supply of offshore containers, ROV control vans, sat/dive control and machinery vans, offshore lifting skids and a range of other specialised equipment for the marine and offshore industry.

Away from his business, Kwek spends time with his young son, coaching him in his studies and music. He is a music lover himself and has performed with symphony bands and orchestras.
