Greater Gabbard windfarm excavation for Fluor a success.
Marin Group and alliance partner Fugro-Rovtech have successfully completed a major North Sea renewables excavation project.
The 500MW Greater Gabbard development off the Suffolk coast is the largest offshore windfarm under construction anywhere in the world and the contract for Fluor involved excavating 30 metres underwater in challenging conditions.
The contract was fulfilled in Q1 and Q2 2010 by Marin Group company Marin Subsea, whose excavation specialists mobilised from Fugro-Rovtech’s construction support vessel the Skandi Inspector.
Scottish and Southern Energy is investing around £650 million in the Greater Gabbard windfarm project, which involves installing 140 Siemens 3.6MW wind turbines located around two sand banks known as Inner Gabbard and The Galloper.
